Specimens

Specimens are sent to the hospital laboratory twice a day and must be placed in the brown wooden box on the reception desk marked “specimens” by 11.00am or 5.00pm.

Test Results

Please telephone the surgery for your results. We would request that you please try and avoid busy times (i.e, before 9.30am)

Queries

If you need to speak to a doctor, please call after morning surgery – between 11.30am and 12.00 noon. Alternatively messages can be left and the doctor will call you back when he or she is available.

Comments / Suggestions / Complaints

We do our best to work to high standards of care. Occasionally things may go wrong and misunderstandings may arise. If this happens we would like to be able to find out what the problem is and if possible solve it and improve the way we work in the future. If you do find cause for complaint, we would ask that you put it in writing to the Practice Manager so that we may deal with it appropriately. There is also a suggestions box on reception for any of your suggestions or comments.

Change of address / telephone number

If you are moving, even if it is still within our area, please notify us as soon as possible. This enables us to update our records so that we can locate you in an emergency. It is equally important to notify us of any change of telephone number. Please note that in order to provide quality care for all our patients, existing patients who move outside our practice area may be asked to register with a surgery nearer their home address.

Patient Confidentiality

Confidentiality
Any detail discussed with your Doctor or Nurse is treated as confidential.  It will be documented in your medical records and cannot be disclosed without your consent.

Protecting your Information
We may share information with other health professionals (district nurses, health visitors, midwives, social services, hospital doctors) to make sure you receive the care you need.  In any other situation we would try to contact you before sharing any patient personal information.

Access to Health Records by third parties
We would point out to patients that when you give consent for your medical records to be released to insurance companies or solicitors, it is your entire medical records that are disclosed not merely the records relating to a specific incident.  If this is of concern we would ask that you discuss this with your GP.
